Revolver, 2005

Hello, there!

I am Rashod and i am junior student of INHA University in Tashkent. But to be honest i am sick and tired of constantly thinking of studies  and telling about engineering. Therefore, i am creating this blog in order to share with you my hobby.

Guess what? I am mad about analyzing characters, in the past I used to watch a lot of movies (now too actually). However, I could not simply watch movies like other people- just for relaxation. No, i have to watch it and be fully focused on it so that i can realize the plot of the story producer tried to tell us and get some life experince for myself. Now, I have expanded the boundaries and apart from movies, I play games and analize game characters too (To be honest for me game characters seemed to be more interesting)

So, in this blog I want to share with my thoughts regarding movies and games, what was the main idea of it or even problems of main heroes. Even at the beginning i said "Hello, there!" because this is a favorite greeting of Obi-wav Kenobi (One of the main heroes in Star Wars)

Today for analysis I have prepared a film that is not particularly widely known to the public but very interesting from the point of view of the thoughts of human being

 Revolver, 2005

After watching the movie Revolver, in addition to the question of What the f*ck is this, the viewer has a couple more questions. What was the movie about, are all the characters real or are they just the alter ego of the main character or is it all just a simple abstraction? Looking ahead, I will say that in this film only two characters are real - the main character and Mr. Gold. The meaning of the film becomes obvious if we take into account the comment from the director of the film Guy Ritchie himself - "Revolver is a film about the triumph of the conscious over the unconscious, as well as about the evolution of consciousness and personality"

The main answer to the question of this film is yes. all the characters in this film are one of the personalities of one person and the most interesting thing is that each person is marked with some kind of their own colors. In the film, Jake is shown as the main character, but he is also just a part of a person and is indicated in green.

Dorothy Maca- Blue

Lord John is Red

All the colors of the visible spectrum are formed from these three colors

The color is green that is, Jake is in the middle when both Maka and John are extremes, but above all is Mr. Gold, the one who is always with us and influences every aspect of our lives. As proof that Mr. Gold is always with us, Guy Ritchie is shown the following moment of the film.

If you look at the photo, when Jake is diagnosed, he is given a green IV drip, but next to him there is also a gold one - the personification of the fact that Mr. Gold is always with us

During the whole film, absolutely everyone is afraid of Mr. Gold and the most interesting thing is that this is the only person who is not shown in the film - they only talk about him, but there are two people who are not afraid of Gold - this is Zack and Avi, Gold does not touch them

Blue, green and red are our emotional part, which can be influenced, but if you mix all these colors, you will just get white. So white and black (Zach and Avi) are our conscious part (perhaps now you understand why Gold does not bother them). Zack and Avi read books, play chess and build strategies- in a word, they think and the more they think, the weaker Gold becomes. If you watched the movie, you might have noticed how Zach and Avi grew up and the main character was more interested in him, all the other characters like Zach, John and Maca were discolored.

So who is Mr. Gold? Mr. Gold is a "False self", a voice in our head, groveling before authorities and telling us to live guided by these authorities

Guy Ritchie quote: "I like the idea that Sam Gold is a collective hallucination. He does not really exist but he does exist. He has no power oh his own. he only has the power that you give him"

The film itself is incredibly simple. It's only about one thing or being. which we are fighting. This essence is inside of us. It's that voice. which when you run, gradually tells us to stop, just when you start to get tired. It is an omnipresent voice that prevents you from enjoying life. And he's cheating on you, seducing you, and telling you it's a good idea.

That's why I like this movie, there is no main villain in the movie - an external enemy, you are the main enemy

Let's go back to the movie a little bit to prove that everything is. what I'm saying makes sense to be. Throughout the film, Gold is not shown at all, not even his voice. More precisely, towards the end of the film, Mac and Jake have an inner voice convincing them that the bad ideas in their head are actually the most correct ones. But does Gold's voice appear at the very end? Of course not, it's just that Richie lets us hear his voice at the end, when, like Gold himself, he's always been and it's to him that Jake does idiotic things at the beginning that he goes to jail for.

Gold is in the head of each of us, but he convinces us that this is your voice and he does not exist and here we can give an analogy with the devil. Then I remembered one quote: "The Devil won when he made me think that he was not there." I will not make claims that Mr. Gold is the devil, but what is for sure is that Mr. Gold is our pride, greed and ego. And what pleases our ego the most? Money, that's why he's called Mr. Gold.

If you pause the movie at any moment, there will always be 4 colors in the frame - gold, green, red and blue. Those same ranges of emotions that always work together

But why is the movie called Revolver? Because the drum of the Revolver is always spinning, as are the mistakes of people and the presence in the life of every Gold that will not go anywhere while greed, ego and envy rule people

In conclusion, I want to talk about the denouement of the film. Maka lost, and Jake won. Why? Because Jake realized that all this time he was being controlled by Gold, whom he shut up. And Maka never realized that Mr. Gold had been talking to him all this time.

I hope all of you will be like Avi and Zach to pump your minds more and one day defeat the damn Mr. Gold. Thanks for your attention!
